As a native of Shreveport, Dr. Courtney Martin found her love of animals at an early age growing up a family where pets were part of the family showing her the importance of the human-animal bond. She attended Louisiana Tech University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology with a concentration in Pre-Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Directly after undergraduate, Dr. Martin was accepted into St. Georges University College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate. Following graduation from St. Georges University in 2020, Dr. Martin returned to Shreveport, where she worked as a mixed animal practitioner for two years. She recently decided to move on to a career in small animal medicine and traveled to Houston, Tx, for an opportunity to work and join her fiancé. Mark Twain once said, “Find a job you enjoy doing and you will never work a day in your life”, and Dr. Martin has found these words to motivate her passions in veterinary medicine. She looks forward to coming into the clinic every day, eager to learn new things, discover new treatments, and see new animals no matter what challenges it may bring. She finds the most rewarding part of being a veterinarian is forming relationships with pets and their families. Dr. Martin is Fear Free certified and is committed to looking after both a pet’s physical and emotional wellbeing. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but has a special interest in dermatology, soft tissue surgery, and preventative medicine.
When Dr. Martin is not at work she can be found outdoors hiking, traveling, and camping with her family. She often includes her 6 dogs, Ace, Franklin, Ollie, Dak, Remi and Spark, on most outdoor activities.
